Letter from the Editor

Editor-in-Chief

You know The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” episodes they play on Halloween? The credits always had silly names for the writers like “Bat” Groening and James “Hell” Brooks. I thought about doing that for the Groove staff for this issue, but the paper comes out four days after Halloween, and it’s a pretty lame idea anyway. How about those baskets of candy that people would leave on their front porch with a handwritten note that said, “Just take One.” Seriously? You might as well put a sign in your front yard that says, “Please don’t roll my trees or egg my house.” I mean, seriously.

But those days are behind us. Time to be grown-ups. It’s November 4th, 2008: Election Day. I don’t know who the new president is, because we sent this issue’s PDFs to Joe the Printer a couple days ago. Thanks to everyone who submitted their opinion about the election and politics. Maybe I’ll send a copy of this issue to Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and, what the heck, Lorne Michaels to see if he want to do any bits on how the nation’s most illustrious college of music feels about McBush and Barack Hilton.

I hope you had fun trick-or-treating as the Joker or Sarah Palin for Halloween, and didn’t ingest too much unrefined sugar or hurt your throat going, “WHY SO SERIOUS,” or calling everyone a “Maverick” incessantly. For the next issue, we’re going to solicit more letters and comments from you, and it will be something a little more fun. Keep an eye out for the announcements on Campus Cruiser. Oh, and good job on midterms. Bring your A+ Trad Harm test to the Groove office and we’ll put it up on our fridge.
