 ”ROADTRIP NATION” – LICENSING OPPORTUNITY 2010

Entering its seventh season on PBS, “Roadtrip Nation” is a documentary series featuring the summer journeys of twenty-somethings as they roadtrip across America, seeking words of wisdom from people who have defined their own paths in life. Past roadtrip participants have interviewed a variety of people from the CEO of Starbucks, Manny the Lobsterman in Maine, film director Craig Brewer and comedian Wanda Sykes. Music has always played a key role in the films of “Roadtrip Nation”, and this year will be no exception. RTN is committed to supporting independent artists by exposing their music to wider audiences and showcasing it on the RTN website . All music is independent – no major label music! Submission deadline: January 29.

FIRST RUN SONGWRITING COMPETITION

The First Run Songwriting Competition is a Songwriting/Composing Contest open to songwriters, lyricists and music composers everywhere with a special division for writers and composers under 25. Winners will be selected in Jazz, R&B/Soul and Lyrics/Song Poetry Only categories. Contestants must compose music and lyrics according to guidelines for each category. One winner from each category will have their song featured in the Stage production “Firstborn” in April 2010. Submission deadline: January 30.

DSA 2009 SONGWRITING AND VIDEO CONTESTS

Amateur songwriters from around the world can compete in the 20th Annual Song Contest hosted by the Dallas Songwriters Association (DSA). This year’s contest features 10 categories judged by music industry professionals and will offer more than $5,000 in prizes to the top winners in each category. Contestants can enter online via either Broadjam or Sonicbids through Feb. 15, or by mail with entry forms mailed to: DSA 2009 Song Contest, Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines Bld. #20, Dallas, TX 75219. Entry fees are $20 per song.

IM – INDEPENDENT MUSIC: TV SHOW SEEKING INDIE MUSIC ARTISTS 

Gain exposure by being a “featured artist” on a new “behind the music” type TV show for Indie Artists. iM is a new weekly TV show that will be produced by Movie Loft Productions based in NYC. Movie Loft Productions currently produces & distributes TV shows to cable systems serving more than 30 million homes nationwide. If you are an indie music artist or band and you have a music video from one of your original songs you can submit your EPK with video content. If you are selected to be featured on a future episode, you will need to send a DVD copy of your music video. Submit through Sonicbids, deadline: March 2.

10TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS

Submit now to The Independent Music Awards to reach millions of true music fans. SONGS TO LAUGH YOU’RE A#* OFF COMPILATION CD

We are looking for songs to make you smile and laugh. It can be quirky lyrics, funny sounds, sarcasm, unusual rhythms and all of those things that cause people to stop what they are doing in their day and be happy! The Association of Artists for a Better World, a non-profit organization devoted to improving our planet through artistic expression, is now accepting submissions for its first compilation CD called “Songs to Laugh Your Ass Off”.
