Neighborhood Story

What makes this premiere an industry stand-out is the coming together of neighborhood business to support the video’s success.

It began last fall in a classroom at Emerson College when seniors Erin Palin and Garrett Williams were assigned their year-end project: to produce a film from scratch. These executive producers teamed up and decided from the start they would exceed class requirements. They created Ten One Productions to house their first joint venture.

Garrett, and a member of Love in Stockholm were co-workers. “We knew the band. They premiered their EP to a sell-out crowd at Harpers Ferry. We were excited to work with that level of talent. I had an in and felt it was worth the chance, so I asked.” said Williams.

The band chatted it out and plans were solidified. As fine arts majors during their own educations, at Boston University and Berklee College of Music, band members were happy to provide support to the students from across the way. Front man Charlie Rockwell said, “Some of the guys in the band have graduated and become teachers in the classes we all used to take. We couldn’t justify turning down an opportunity to help out a neighboring school’s student body.”

The sentiment seemed to be felt around the city as vendors signed on, one after the other, to assist with the project. Local venues perceived it as an opportunity to help the talent of tomorrow. “Everyone has experienced their first big work break. Be it an internship or chance at a gig we all remember what that moment meant to us. Having an opportunity to pay it forward, to such a professional and talented group of up-and-comers, that is what we all get in the business to do” said Felt Boston’s Marketing Director Shannon Finks.

Two months later, energized by their community’s dedication to the student population of Boston, Love in Stockholm is proud to premiere the music video for Ordinary Man. Come meet the neighbors of this Ordinary Man’s production at Middle East Downstairs on January 23 from 7-8PM.
