Boston Music Awards “Best New Artist” Shea Rose Will Rock Allston This Saturday

What: Local rising star Shea Rose will headline ‘Ladies of Red Bull Soundstage’ show at Brighton Music Hall on September 8, 2012 with female-fronted bands Mitten and The Dotted Eyes opening. Red Bull and Karmaloop will be offering giveaways to students. Tickets available at Ticketmaster.com

Who: Boston native and Berklee College of Music graduate Shea Rose is helping to reinvent and reenergize the Boston music scene. Rose, who is celebrated for crossing musical genres and dashing stereotypes, is featured on the covers of both Exhale Magazine (“Women Who Rock” issue, summer 2012) and the Improper Bostonian this month. The Boston Globe called Rose the “artist most likely to make an impact on the national stage” and named her on of the “25 Most Stylish Bostonians” (Sept. 2012). Queen Latifah even named her “America’s Next Female Rapper.”

Some of Rose’s recent awards & accolades include:

Winner of 2011 R&B/Soul/Urban Contemporary Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards Winner of 2012 SESAC Award for collaboration on Grammy award-winning jazz album, “The Mosaic Project” Winner of 2012 Songwriters Hall of Fame Abe Olman Scholarship for excellence in songwriting Chosen by Queen Latifah as spokesmodel for her 2010 CoverGirl “Ignite Your Persona” campaign Chosen as a Red Bull Soundstage featured artists and awarded a spot at their SXSW music showcase in Austin, TX.

Why: Shea will debut tracks off of her upcoming EP including the B-52’s cover and title track, “Dance This Mess Around” along with new originals. Fans will enjoy specials, giveaways from Red Bull and Karmaloop.
