Hot Tips to Fuel Your Music Career

  • Do your research. One way to find out who may be predisposed to your music is to look up your favorite indie or studio film (ones with music you love or that is in your style) on IMDB, then contact the director or music supervisor credited. Other good lists can be found at www.ascap.comwww.bmi.com, and www.musicregistry.com.  Ask about others in the CDC library!
  • Make flyers for post-event orders. No need to lose a sale (and possible repeat customer/fan) just because you ran out of CDs.
  • Avoid “To Whom it May Concern.” Most letters addressed this way are thrown away. Even if the letter is saved, it could take weeks to actually find the person it may concern.
